NOTES FROM HOLLYWOOD: PART 29

May 15, 2026 — He was a Marine. Fit. Muscular. Colorful tattoos up and down his arms. Maybe 38 years old. He pulled me aside after the screening. Spoke in a hushed voice. Said he was deeply moved by the film. That he had to step out of the theater a few times to collect himself. Shared that he survived a suicide attempt during a deeply troubling period back from combat. That he managed to get help and get back on track. That the film captured his experience of the quiet struggle to reintegrate into civilian life after service. Like nothing he’d ever seen. Now he volunteers with Wounded Warrior Project, hoping to help guys out of the rut he found himself in when we came home. He wants every vet he knows to see the film. It could be a lifeline for some guys, he told us.
